Nick Grimshaw has congratulated Tom Bleasby, following the announcement that he quit the show just days before Judges' Houses.

The 19-year-old singer - who quit the show saying it was the 'worst experience of his life' - also says he he's not done with music.

After Tom took to Twitter to tells fans he was leaving for 'personal reasons', Grimmy was soon to reply.

He tweeted: "...well done Tom for handling the pressure of the circus that is 6chair! and best of luck for the future x"

Tom replied: "Thank you nick, I really appreciate it."

He also revealed that he would always sing, just not on the ITV show.

"Make no mistake about it. I'm not stopping singing, the X Factor is just one path...one that wasn't right for me," he tweeted.

He added: "I will make music."

Tom also said in a statement: "Due to personal reasons I have decided to withdraw from The X Factor . Thank you to all the judges, especially Nick for his belief in me."

He added: "I want to wish all the contestants the best of luck and thank you to the public for supporting me and my dream.”rbis

The singer has cited "personal reasons", with sources saying he felt "lacking in confidence" on the show.

Tom was shown being replaced during the six chair challenge in Sunday’s episode, before producers called him back.

As the emotional scenes aired, Tom, from Leeds, posted on Twitter: "You are literally watching on TV the worst experience of my life."

Sources say the singer told producers he did not think he could cope in the competition on Friday.

One told the Mirror: "He didn't think he could progress vocally and in terms of his confidence."

A spokesman for X Factor said: "We can confirm that Tom Bleasby has chosen to withdraw from the competition due to personal reasons."
