A cricket player has been rushed to hospital after clashing head-first with a teammate during a Women's Big Bash League match.

Brisbane Heat star Deandra Dottin, 25, collided with Laura Harris during their match against the Melbourne Stars this afternoon.

Shocking footage showed West Indian international Dottin and Harris charging after a ball as it crossed the boundary before smashing into each other.

Harris, 26, collided with a fence on her way down and Dottin landed on top of a kit bag.

Dottin was stretchered from Allan Border Field in Brisbane and is being treated for a suspected concussion in hospital, Cricket.com.au reported.

Harris stayed at the ground to watch the rest of the match but was unable to take part, leaving her side with just nine players.

Despite missing two players, the Heat still won by five runs. 

The horrifying head clash came just a day after the Heat's Holly Ferling, 21, suffered a concussion.

The fast bowler landed awkwardly after taking a catch on the boundary during a game between the same two sides on Boxing Day.
