On Sunday afternoon, Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) was called upon a medical aid request at home of Reiners in Brentwood. Emergency workers discovered the corpse of a 78-year-old man and a 68-year-old woman who could be correspondingly called Rob and Michele Reiner by the family spokesperson.
The Guardian reported that the pair had suffered injuries that were in line with a knife attack. This fact makes the current police inquiry all the more serious.

Deputy Chief Alan Hamilton addressed the press, stating that the LAPD was “not seeking anyone as a suspect or as a person of interest… until we conduct our investigation and we move forward.”
He verified that the police did not arrest or interrogate anyone as a suspect by then.

Several websites, such as People.com, said that the Reiners were murdered by their own son, Nick Reiner. Nick Reiner, aged 32, has already addressed the audience on how he had drug addiction that reportedly caused years of instability.
Law enforcement agencies are yet to officially verify this claim as well as the exact nature of the deaths. This situation further brings a deeper sadness to the Hollywood tragedy.
A Storied Career in Film and Activism
The death of Rob Reiner is a massive loss to Hollywood and civic life in America. Reiner, the son of a comedy legend, was born in 1947 in Bronx, New York. He initially gained popularity as an actor, as Michael Stivic, a.k.a. Michael ‘Meathead’ Stivic, of the revolutionary 1970s sitcom All in the Family on the CBS network. He received two Emmy Awards for his performance in the role.
Reiner had a successful career in the 1980s and 1990s, and his productions were a series of popular and highly rated movies. Michele Singer Reiner, 68, was a successful photographer and producer. She had met Rob at work when they were doing When Harry Met Sally and they got married in 1989. Her most prominent roles in movies include Misery (1990) and she also made the 2017 movie Shock and Awe produced by her husband. Her photo of President Donald Trump graced the cover of his book The Art of the Deal.
