They also stated that the testing would be conducted via drive-up irrespective of the weather, while the individuals seeking the test would be directed by signs posted, leading them to the testing site.
The Rhode Island Department of Health further indicated that detailed information would be provided by Governor, Raimondo, and Dr. Nicole Alexander-Scott, MD, MPH at the press conference, which is to take place on July 29, 2020.
Tests are subject to availability by appointment only, while the testing site is open Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.
Owing to this development, the state’s testing capacity is expected to increase with a capacity of 1500 tests per day. The new testing site is for all symptomatic and certain types of asymptomatic individuals.
While asymptomatic people may schedule a test if they work in a high-contact profession, the symptomatic individuals must schedule an appointment through their health care providers.
Apart from these individuals, anyone with a recent travel history to locations with a high rate of positive COVID-19 cases can also request for an appointment.
