Junior Doctors are offered with 11% pay hike
In a last-ditch attempt, British politician Jeremy Hunt made an offer to stop doctors from going on a strike. Jeremy wrote a letter to 50,000 doctors who were threatening to go on a strike and offered them a basic pay Hike of 11%. It would be interesting to witness how the Junior Doctors will react to this proposal as the committee of the doctors would make the final decision in this regard. The situation is grim, especially in the backdrop of support the Junior Doctors have received from the emergency Consultants. A total of 371 emergency Consultants have signed a letter supporting the cause of the doctors. The whole dispute has started because of the new contract terms promulgated by the government on the various pay and promotion criteria of the doctors who didn’t go down well with the medical community.
