Merkel to Meet Erdogan in Ankara; Leaders Discuss Extradition of Soldiers
Angela Merkel, German Chancellor will meet Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan along with other Turkish officials to discuss the issues regarding the European Union Deal. The leader plans to discuss the expulsion of approximately 40 Turkish soldiers, who were allegedly involved in the unsuccessful Turkish coup and are now in Germany.
Merkel visits Ankara amidst the current disrupted relations between Turkey and Germany. Turkey wants Germany to reject the soldiers’ asylum applications.
Germany is frequently accused by Turkey for not supporting its fight against illegal Kurdish rebels.
Erdogan also found it offensive when the German leader used the phrase “Ismalic Terrorists.” Edrogen said he should not use these two words together. Being a Muslim and a Muslim President Erdogen it would not be acceptable.
