Andrew Morton Pens Wallis Simpson’s Crazy Swimsuit Incident

The popular biographer of Princess Diana, Andrew Morton, revealed intriguing incidents of King Edward VIII and his US-born wife Wallis Simpson in his new book titled ‘17 Carnations: The Royals, the Nazis and the Biggest Cover-Up in History’.

In his book, Andrew mentioned the interesting stance when Wallis compelled the American Minister in Lisbon and the American consul in Nice to find her Nile green outfit at the property in the South of France, which was under Nazi control back then. The authorities opened the property bearing the risk to live up to Simpson’s demand. The event was privately known as ‘Operation Cleopatra Whim.’

Andrew wrote that irrespective of the mass slaughtering during the war, the Duke and his wife behaved as if WWII was a trivial matter of conflict affecting their lifestyle. The book highlights that the couple was in contact with Nazi leaders requesting favors from them.
